Finance Letter to the Church Family from Jim Bosserd

Sparta United Methodist Church

March 27, 2020

Dear Sparta United Methodist Church Family,

Pastor Phil has provided us with a great way of remaining connected to our Sunday morning services during this time as we “Stay Home, Stay Safe.” In the days ahead you’ll be hearing about even more helpful ways of connecting that our church is developing.

The problem is that the ushers can’t pass the plates for giving during our Facebook services, and we all want our church to remain strong during these trying times. As you can imagine, our expenses continue, although they are slightly reduced. We just received the good news from our United Methodist Conference that they have stayed our pastor’s health insurance billing for six full months! This, alone, will save us thousands of dollars! Our trustees have also reduced the heat in our facilities and usage of office supplies and other daily items have stopped. However, most of the expenses related to our operations continue.

Please take this time to consider supporting the church financially if you haven’t already.
WAYS TO GIVEUsing your debit or credit card through our website:
Gifts may be made through our website by pressing the menu box at the top and pressing “give” in the drop down menu.

Mail-in checks:
Checks may be sent to the church at
Sparta United Methodist Church
54 East Division Street
Sparta, MI 49345

Automatic Debit:
This is another way that some of the people of our church make their contributions. This is an automated process that requires a signed form that Pastor Phil can help you set up. Call him at 616-799-4281 if you would like to do this. Church income from this uninterrupted source has been very valuable during this crisis!

We appreciate your continued support of our church. Together with God’s blessing we will be successful.

Jim Bosserd,
Finance Chairperson
