Helping each other follow Jesus’ way. (John 14:6)

Sunday School

We love to learn about the Bible. We love to grow in fellowship with one another. During Sunday School we do both of these things.

First Fruits

Come join the fun and grow in Christ! This group is focused on third, fourth, and fifth graders.

Youth Groups

This is where lifelong relationships are built.

Service & Mission

Our church lives, works, and serves in the community. Through short term missions, food truck disbursements, and large community events, we believe in thriving outside our four walls.

“About us” is really “about you.”
The Sparta United Methodist Church has been at the center of the Village of Sparta and its citizens since 1852.

This church was formed, and continues to be transformed, so that we can meet the needs the people of an ever-changing world and community. We do this by providing a community in which to grow spiritually through scriptural study and conversation, dynamic worship experiences of a traditional (10:10 a.m.) or contemporary style (UPRISING 5:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. June-August), and meaningful ways to serve each other, the community, and the world around us. Our mission statement suggests that we want all people to live meaningful lives through vital service. Part of being a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ is having an impact on the world around us. We also realize that relationships are 2-way streets. Everyone has needs, and everyone has something to offer. Our service is divided then into two streams: 1. Ministry to those inside our congregation 2.Witness (Mission and evangelism) service to our community and world. You will find a wide variety of ways to help. Here are some of our many opportunities: distribute free food every second Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m., join a prayer group, and volunteer with the youth. We offer activities for all age groups all week long. Sunday school begins at 9:00 a.m.; the younger children enjoy crafts and music at that time and participate in Sunday school during the worship hour. The nursery welcomes infants to 4-year-olds on Sundays from 9:00 a.m.-noon. There are also youth groups for 3rd graders through young adults, and many small groups involved in short- and long-term studies.
